I saw On YouTube ( after about a hour and a half down load) a guy with a small torch demonstrateing his
FLASH BACK preventer.... it was a simple Cigerette butt  filter stuck in the end of the hose and then the hose put on to the jet for the flame to dance on..... the cotton in the filter evedently alows the gas to go through but stops the flame....
I don't know if a cotton filled container in line would stop a flash back on a large output generator but if it works for a small one it may well work on a bigger version...
the video was inpressive as you could hear it popping as it tried to flash back and go down the hose.
but the flash back was stopped at the cigerette filter every time!
....
something to think about !!

I was thinking a 3/4"x2" galvinized pipe with brass hose barb on bell connectors stuffed with cotton balls that the Girls use to apply their face goop.......
should do the trick for larger volumes... if its realy successfull it could do away with the pesky bubbler !....
... because a bubbler can pass a flashback !... the higher the output the better your chances are that the flash back will get through it ! ... so something better is needed !
....
think I'll do some experimenting... sounds like a worthy cause... gott'a retreeve my battery from the tractor though down at the ranch ! HAHAHAHHAHA OOPS!

I have been playing with the cig thing the last couple of days. I know a butt in a 1/4" tube doesn't work unless you peel a little bit of the filter off it fits to tight for gas to go by. I'll be playing with it this week.

Ok, so it cannot be packed too tight or the gas can't pass through it... thats reasonable!
thanks for the help !

on my last atempt to make a flashback arrestor.i used the cotton floss for fishtank filters,in a 1/4 inch pvc tube 4 inch's long with nipples at both ends for the hoses, floss is paked in there pretty good and tight and does not restrict the flow almost at all,but you can actually light the gas coming out of the hose after the floss filter and it will not travel back.....dont know if its because of how tight its packed or if its the material itself...been using this since i seen that video you discribed.

Kool ! thanks KF for the info... wonder if 5LPM would make a diference ? of if it could pass that much gas with the cotton or fiber in the line ... Hummmm
...
one thing for sure if you can light the hose end and it don't make it back to the generator that is a GOOD thing!
...
thank you !

So, does a hydroxy torch work under water?  Oxy and fuel are already there...

Cowboy:
No not the one I made... I put the torch tip in water and it put out the flame and Popped the Pop off cap on the generator and bubbler both ! ...
after hunting them down again and hooking everything back up I tried it about 4 more times and it would not burn under water, so that is a Myth.... Hydroxy gas don't burn under water...
I think it should because I carries with it its own Oxygen but I couldn't get it to do it with the small flame I had!

Maybe the water created too much pressure to overcome?  I dunno, never got into underwater welding.
