Howdy All.
when I built my Smack booster I had a hell of a time finding the parts...
infact the only thing I could find was the stainless steel switch plate covers...
and the plumbing supplies for the container !
...
so at Ace hardware I bought 2 plastic "Vinetion blind" turn handles. their just plastic rods about 3ft long... and about 3/8" in OD...
I chased a 3/8 corse die doen the length but barely made 1/2 the thred depth... so I went to the next size smaller 5/16" corse ( I think it was) and cut the threds with that... it took lots of cutting oil but I did accomplish 4 thredded plastic rods 6" long without too much truble...
I had to choose the dies very carefully so the threds didn't eat each other up in the thredding proccess....the end results were useable if not perfect ! <GRIN>
...
I could not find half nuts or staiinless steel nuts of any kind so "I ground my nuts"on a bolt to the proper thickness (7/32" if I remember right)
I did finally find some nilon washers larger than I wanted for the inside OD but they worked just fine , I picked them up at Lowes Hardware in the little bins, I bought all they had at the time for about $10.00 and I used them all on the cell as I had to use 2 for each plate because they were 1/32" thick
which came out to being 1/16" plate spaceing.
...
Now I know where to get my stainless steel hardware at...at Ace hardware, they have the best supply in the whole town but I didn't know that at the time, and save yourself time and truble and ask someone there to find them for you !
...
the Smack booster is supposed to put out 1.7LPM at 20 amps but the best I ever got was 1.5LPM
even with the normal steel nuts and washers in it it works ok with very little goo forming but I do have to change the water in it quite often because of the rust.
definately ise all stainless steel or don't bother !
as I cannot use the cell in a car because of its need to be cleaned so often,...
I'ed be cleaning it every day if I were to try and use it... and I'm too lazy for that ! HAHAHAHA
..
