Hydrogen Embrittlement

Is this something we need to be concerned about?
there is a hardness of metal that any harder than that will start this process, are engines this hard? and also do they even get hot enough?

If you click on the SEARCH function at the top of the page and then enter 'Hydrogen embrittlement' in the box you will find a few references to it on this site.

As I posted on another thred...
...
Hydrogen embrittlement does not effect the I.C. because the hydrogen is being Burned up...not being stored in it.... as in the large storage tanks where they discovered Hydrogen embrittlerment in the first place... hydrogen was stored in such high pressure it actually penetrated the metal of the tanks making them brittle.... after a few fillings they began to crack.
there is a site that sells a substance that is supposed to stop Hydrogen Embrittlement
although I don't remember the name of it.... but you do NOT need it as the Hydrogen isn't being stored in the engine and given time to penetrate the metal... its being USED... so its a MYTH that Hydrogen embrittlement will occur..... I used my Hydrogen gen for almost a full year with no ill effects , I know Randy has used it longer... with no problems
if and when you start storing Hydroxy gas under high pressure then you should worry about it ....but not if your burning it .
I have no doubt I could run my car 300,000 miles on 50% hydroxy gas and never throw a rod
as long as I changed the oil on time ! ...hehehehehhehe
...
my OPINION .... no proof, just an opinion !
I really do not think running a small percentage of hydrogen and oxygen in your engine will ever hurt your engine... even if you ran 100% simply because it is being burned up... it all gets USED quickly...and has no time to penetrate the metal...and that is what Hydrogen embrittlement is... Hydrogen penetrating the metal...it takes Humgious pressure and a long time to Penetrate metal.... those 2 things just do not exhist in the I.c.engine moderate pressure sure but it is Imediately burned off... it doesn't stay there... so it can't penetrate at all...besides that the engine is Red to white hot.... inside when running
any hydrogen that hits the metal will burn ...
its just a Myth guys nothing to worry about at all even though some people try to play on your fears and get you to buy their product.... its just a Joke!
