Iron in the water

Bob, Randy, anyone,
Well its been a long time since I've been here. But I came across something just now on ebay where I was looking at water ionizers. It seams a person bought one of those $4,000 units and since his well water has a high iron content (just like mine) his unit got real dirty real fast and he sent it back to the factory for cleaning. I assume that is when he was told that the high iron content in his water was the culpert. Now he is trying to sell it on ebay since I assume he doesn't want to put out another $600 to $1000 or more for a fancy filter to get the iron out of his water.
My bigest problem with the hydroxy generators I built was that they got clogged up so fast. Since the water ionizers work on the same principle as the hydroxy generators I'm wondering if the high iron content of my water caused the falure of all those units I made and bought?
Any thoughts?
Tink
ps. how are you all doing anyway?

Well not to sound like a fool, I just did a search on this fourm and found out we were talking about using distilled water way back in 2008.
Disreguard my last post if it seams useless.

HAY its TINK ! Howdy my friend !
good to see you again !
hope you don't take as long to post another reply as ya did last time ! LOL
Yes normal tap water will goo-up a cell fairly fast... I have relatively PURE water from a spring and it still Goos up the cell..... distilled demineralized Water is the only way to go....
just distilled is not good enough... get the Distilled AND Demineralized water !
...
you can clean out that gunk by doing either a Muratic acid bath for a few minutes or just blast it with a hose in the car wash... then rinse good afterward
...
Really good to see ya Tink !
welcome back !

Tink,
Maybe rain water collected in a plastic bucket would be useable.
What kind of electrolyte were you mixing up. Acid or alkaly ? Or were you just using the water ?

Good thinking Manta ! I thought of that as I lay in bed trying to sleep last night ! LOL
rain water is about as pure as it gets... well USUALLY.... it may have a bit of Radioactivity in it from Japan right now , but ya never know heavy water may help Electrolisys ! LOL
