Just a thought.

Has anyone tried using Titanium to make the plates ? If so,  how did you make the connection to them ?

Not I.... that stuff is way too expensive !
and your right about the connection.... that may be a problem ! ya can't solder to it... I guess it would have to be bolts... but that means a dissimilar metal and electrolysis because of that...unless you use titanium bolts.......
I dunno ... might be worth trying though ...
what kind of properties does it have over stainless steel ? is it more resistant to rust and stuff ?

Bob,

See the new Titan thread.

If you want to scrub this thread (Titanium cells) from the record it's fine by me.

HAHAH No way  !   its valuable info. Manta !
are you planning on adding it to the diesel car ?   there's been people that put HHO units on the air intake of Diecels.... and they sware that it helps allot !

put 3 washer cells on a buddies Dodge diesel, it had one of those digital mpg readouts on the visor, within 5 minutes of turning the cell on it jumped up 8 mpg more, that's quite considerable since it has a giant fuel tank. he's been using it for a couple years and has done nothing but add water, he parks in a garage and hasn't had any problem with it freezing. I've tried to get him to let me tear it down to check it but he says it's still working fine, it holds over 2 gallons of fluid.

Yep, kool aid, talked to him today, he said he has also added a couple more packets of k-aid along with the water, now he's getting 11 mpg more, he says the koolaid dries up the sides of the bubbler reservoir combo, occasionally he takes it loose, plugs the outlet and shakes it good, after he does this the cells pull a few more amps.
Hey Manta, how's drilling that titanium?, does it digest drill bits or what?

Randy,

...Hey Manta, how's drilling that titanium?, does it digest drill bits or what?..

Actually it's not bad to drill.  I've just been out to the shed and done a 'practice' 6 mm hole through one of my plates.
I set the pillar drill to it's slowest speed, 210 rpm, and kept a nice steady feed on it.  Slow speed,  heavy feed (but not stupily so) is the way to go;  a bit like stainless.

The sheets also cut very easily with a guillotine (if you have one) or a hack saw if you don't.

It's the supermetals like inconel that cause me headaches.

Still overhauling my lathe in the warm outhouse,  so no progress on the Titan yet.  But the lathe is nearly finished. Smiley

For what its worth.

Titanium plates is what they use in those $4,000 water ionizers that react so badly to iron in well water. But I'm convinced now that high iron content in water will destroy any metal used in hydroxy generators. Titanium plates are used in water ionizers because that metal is the most efficient affordable material to use but still expensive.

Manta,
Where can we get Titanium plates?

Tink,

I used to work for a metallurgical laboratory as a machinist.  The pieces of Titanium I have were off cuts from welding tests that had been thrown in our Titanium scrap bin.

I don't know where you would get new material,  but maybe the aircraft industry suppliers,  or even an aircraft manufacturer would be able to help.

I'll be using de-ionised water when I eventually get the cell built (I'm still two pieces short if the set) so I hopefull wont have to worry about iron.
