Bob.

Each time I have come to the site today I have had to manually log - in even thought the 'Forever' box is ticked. I've not had this problem before.  looks like a bug in the system.

Clearing the cookies from this site is my first thought. Perhaps unchecking forever when logging in and then trying again next time would be enough. Either way I am just shooting in the dark as it were, albeit not without a little basis. I will see what can be done either way.

I've tried resetting the session duration to 1 hour then logging out leaving the site.  On return the session duration is back at 'forever' (default ?) and I still have to log in.
It's no big deal and I can live with it. Smiley

No problem for me. It might be user-side. Is your browser clearing cookies every time you log out?

... Um... good thought there! if the Cookies are disabled in windows or deleted after you log out I think that will make you have to log in again....
 I think....

Just been looking at my cookies.
When logged in I have two related to hydroxyhut.

PHPSESSID

SMFCookie120

When I log out and then go look in Tools ->Options I find that they have gone. But I can't see anything that would remove them. The 'Accept cookies' box is ticked .
All very odd.  I haven't changed any settings for months and this is a very new problem.
Come to think of it, this started when I clicked on the 'download Firefox 3' button a few days ago. I've been  running  Firefox 2.1 for months.

Very well might be. I stopped using Firefox a long time ago, I use Google Chrome now.

hummm.
took a while to find it but I am using Firefox 3.6.2.2 (if I can remember the numbers for 5 minutes correctly!)
under Options, then under security , I have allow cookies checked and delete cookies when exiting UN-Checked....  also keep the cookies till they expire in the drop down window...
...
with those settings I don't have any trouble at all untill I go to windows and delete the cookies manually then I have to get them all again....its a pain in the rump!
....
it might be that Firefox 3 had ISSUES.... so see if there is a later version and it may cure your problem Manta!
....(load firefox and tell it to check for updates!( in the menu things/options))

Well,  I just upgraded to 3.6 and that seems to have cured it. I left the site and came back without having to log in. Strangely the options->security panel tick boxes are exactly as before.  So maybe it was an issue with the previous version.

Thanks for all the hints and tips.

Spoke too soon. Things have reverted to having to log in.
I can't be bothered with this problem any more and will just carry on logging in. At least I will not forget my password.

did you turn off your computer in between the time it worked and the time it didn't ?
if so Windows is deleting the cookies on exit.... and thats the problem.
good luck... everyone here thinks its on your end Manta...sorry I can't be of much help !
