well, that's better than doing nuthin! hehehe
I didn't get a garden in this year... I was wanting to but we just don't have the extra water for it.
...
We used to have a big garden out here when I was growing up, but it was kind'a scattered out and in places where it was best for the plants , depending on what they were...
like corn in a sunny spot, and squash by the edge of the cow pen where the fertilizer was a foot deep !
... that started all by itself... one spring the squash started growing there all by its self... so we helped it and added more.... we had some of the best acorn squash I ever ate from that spot ! HAHAHAHA
Corn on the other hand was a pain in the butt... it never grew good... and could all be for not if the water system quit for a few days...
... we were very much the Amateurs in gardening.... probably still are!... but its really hard to beat good home grown produce!
... we were more concerned at growing the Hogs and Cows for the meat...and that we did quite well!
...
our soil here is very poor for a good garden... mostly light colored dirt with lots of rock.
to do it right here we'ed need "Grow boxes" or raised bed gardening.... and that means allot of work!

Nope...I was Born in L.A. and after I knocked a knife out of a kids hand in 3rd grade and ran home crying Mom and dad decided that their Kids were not going to be raised in the same gang war setup that they lived through...so we moved !
we finally got the 20 acers in around 1963 I think it was...  I was I think 8  or 10 years old
is all... we moved out to the "GROUND" with no electricity, no running water and no bathroom!
and we slowly learned how to deal with it ! HAHAHAHAH  To my Dads Credit we had Running water within a week....  we lived in a small camp trailer made in the 1950's for about 4 years... Dad added on a add-on-room and that made all the difference in the world !
...in the early 1970's Mom and Dad bought a Used 10x50 trailer house and we put it in on the property where it sits to this day... the Old place went into ruin and was torn down about 5 years later.
Dad added on a 20'x50' add-on-Room to the trailer house and made a bigger house out of it...
sort of a Roof over the trailer house and half of a house... today it is what we live in... some 40 some odd years later.
this property from the start has been a lesson on "making due with what you have"...
although we have electricity and phone and all the goodies of town living without the elbows of all the people to deal with, its still a constant challenge to keep things up and running ! HAHAHAHA
we set on the only water in the canyon... everyone else has to have wells but we have a spring fed water system. .... unfortunately it has been slowing down for the last 20 years sense the neighbors behind us put in deep wells... we may have to get a well put in in the future, I don't know.
....
We hide in the woods as best we can around here... heheheheh
When Mom passed away due to the car accident, I had to return to the "Ranch" to take care of it.
been back here about a year now and still havn't cought up on things that need to be done ! HAHAHAH
but such is the life at this place !

Man... its hot here today ...105 or so the TV said it would be that hot today... haven't had the courage to look yet ! HAHAHAHAHA
I bought a tractor tire for the front of the tractor ... and put it on this morning before it got too hot.... well, mounted the tire on the rim then.... but I went out about 1pm and put the tire and rim on the tractor... I left the lug nuts on the bucket of the tractor and they were so hot I got blisters from them ! NO REALLY ! a blister on my finger and thumb ! Never had that happen before !
hehehehe mighty hot to say the least!
...
its so dry out there now a single spark would start a fire in that tall grass !  a bad situation!

It was like that when I worked in the middle east.  So hot you had to make sure you kept your tools in the shade  If you forgot you got burned  the next time you picked them up. I soon learned to always walk on the cool side of the street.
As for the water situation, Have you thought of some kind of simple hydroponic system ?  That way you don't dump gallons of water into the ground;  only into the troughs where you want it. The plants only take what they need and the rest is sent back into storage until it is needed.
It works very well and you have full control.

I've seen a few green houses set up really nice in my time and as I understand it Hydroponics is very similar... although its a full time job...even a small one !  I'm not willing to give gardening that much of my time.... however the Wife says she is...so when she retires I'll probably be put to work on her garden system LOL !
More than likely it will be of the Raised bed varity because it takes about half the normal water
and the output is about double the normal produce from the same square footage.
a goof book on the subject is "the postage stamp garden" by the guy that invented the method
over the decades I have built a few boxes... one 4'x4' and the results were really supprising !
Just from that experience I could see that a simple 4'x8'x1' high box could feed a 3 person family with no problem at all...
Its allot like gardening in Alaska where their produce grows 3 times faster than anywhere else...
the Grow Box Idea is a really good one.... as far as efficiency is concerned its right up there with Hydroponics as I understand it... although Hydroponics is supposed to be about 20% better over the long haul.... But if you were to put the grow box in a weather proof building and add lights,
in theory it should OUT produce Hydroponics....
the advantages of the grow box system out weighs the Hydroponics method in my view ... no real pumping system or careful monitoring of the chemicals used...
still it is not without its faults... its prone to Bug problems and plant disease,  so you need to watch that carefully.... Hydroponics also suffers from these ailments as well.
 ....
its a great deal of hard work however... perhaps some day when I get caught up on other things I'll get started on a garden ! HAHAHAHA

Back to the original topic,  just had a look at scambusters.  Very quite over there too.
What we need is a knight in shining armour to present us with a cell that increases mileage by  30% on small engined cars.  Any offers ?

well heck I think a single "Randy cell" will do that.
but its about 50% the added Hydroxy gas and 50% getting the engine to lean out and run properly on gasoline TOO !
...
this is so true because when I started Messing with my truck I was getting 22mpg to 23mpg... and it was purdy constant at that MPG... no change in driving made it any better it was at its best at that amount...   adding the 3 Randy cells boosted my MPG to 35~38mpg.... then I started trying to lean out the fuel flow.... I got the truck to 40~45MPG by adjusting the MAF valve and adding a "Matt valve"
(the Matt Valve is what did it!), I also blocked off the Oxy sensor in the exhaust and changed the timing (I think) that brought me to 40MPG constant to as MUCH as 45MPG...
Then when I took off the Generator for the Winter (it had froze tight on me 2 times already)
I expected my MPG to go back to the 22~23mpg but it didn't it is at 32MPG to 35MPG now and stays there.
....
so obviously there is some major changes needed in the truck to make it run and get good gas mileage
believing the Hype that the car Manufacturers put out is folly , that the fuel injection system is the best thing sense sliced bread!... its not,  its just MUCH harder to lean out than a carberated engine is !
....
so from 23mpg to 45mpg what percentage increase is that ?  about 50% right ?
...and after generator removal  going from 23mpg to 35mpg is at least 10%
...
so its NOT all in the Hydroxy generator alone... at least 10% is the fuel system in the vehicle itself
...maybe much more than that !
...

Howdy Randy !
yah its been deathly quiet on here lately !
I'm just tired of being the only one posting ... Manta and I have been keeping it going but that's about it! LOL
...
I've got some new projects lately.... I told the wife I'd do her Kitchen for her Christmas Present!
and darned if she didn't take me up on that ! so needless to say I've been busy getting ready to attack it !
... We went to the Home Depot store today and came away with a truck load of "WORK"....
got about 4~5 boxes of Stone tiles to put on the kitchen sink/counter and Island , 2 sheets of plywood and some mortar... I haven't done any of that stuff in at least 20 years so it should be interesting!
....
other than that I have been making me a .45 cal pistil.... I've wanted one sense I was a Kid... and could never afford one so I bought a box of bullets and am making it instead ! LOL
I got the basic idea down and about half made.... I will test fire it with it anchored to a tree and a long string! LOL !
...
My Satellite Internet provider"Wild blue" has been giving me fits... no matter what I do the "Usage" seams to climb and climb.... I contacted them via email and they said whats the problem ? according to us you only have used 24% ! and I wrote them back and said then WHY does your site say i am at 84%
they haven't answered me back yet.... there is something not right about their calculations and their web site "Usage" meeter is all screwed up !

...
anyway.... Merry Christmas to You and Yours Randy !
stay out'a that snow and have a good one !

Bob,

..I told the wife I'd do her Kitchen for her Christmas Present!..

Big,  big,  mistake !

Having said that I need to get my kitchen ceiling replaced. It hasn't been right since some one flooded the bathroom a couple of years ago.

Randy,  good to hear from you again.  You still in the cell making scene ?

Yes,  it does seem rather quiet.  As I mentioned earlier I don't know if it is because people are finding the maintenance of cells too much trouble or that they have come around to the conclusion that the figures don't add up.  I'm sure that there is fuel to be saved on the bigger engines,  but it is these claims of huge gains that worry me.

I've just managed to get my old shed into a usable state, it's quite cosy in there with the stove going.
I was back at work for the last five week to fill in for one of the machinists who was on holiday.  Managed to save a small sheet of 1/10" 84% nickel. Enough to make a single two plate cell.

I find it takes me a while to get back into retired mode after these 'back to work' sessions. Feel sort of lost for the first week.  Then I settle down and actually start doing things.

Have a good Christmas.

Dave.

Been working alot. My son's in the military "chip off the old block" Spent some time with him at Ft. Benning in the summer, sick of airplanes, Wife says she is also. Still trying to conquer the antifreeze thing, got a pretty interesting build on a washer cell, but haven't built a container for it yet, lots of washers, want to power from both ends to whip the resistance problem. Picked up another hobby, been buying DOA dual core laptops, and Atom netbooks, built my own IR rework station, works good other then having to continually monitor temp with an IR handheld temp gun. 99% of failures on them is caused by lint clogging the thermal heatsink fan assembly, this leads to BGA failure. I buy em off e-bay really cheap, fix em up and sell em, I can usually go through one and have it back up and running in around 4 hrs. $50 investment + 4 hrs work typical $300-$700 sale price = good hobby hahahaha, seems all brands including macintosh have this same problem. after repairs I find alot of them are still under warranty??. Hope everyone has a merry christmas and a happy new year.

Sounds like a neet side line Randy ! And can't wait to hear the details on the big cell you've developed!
...
Manta ! a 2 plate cell should be good for bubble making but that's about it ! HEHEHEHEHE!
I think you'll have to do better than that if you want serious production even if you use solid GOLD plates!
...
I've been playing with a Pistol I made to fire the .45auto cartage... just put a handle on it tonight and that really makes a big difference.... only thing else it needs besides purdying up is a trigger guard! LOL man it sure is rough looking! HAHAHAHA! its a single shot BTW... I call it my hand cannon!   HA!
I think its actually a usable gun or will be when I'm finished... but I haven't fired it yet.
I am going to put it in a vice and fire it from a long way away the first few times! mainly because I don't trust the screw I have to hold the hammer/slide in place... it may sheer it and become a bullet in the opposite direction !  but there is only one way to find out and that is do it! ....
the trigger gave me fits I had to re-design it 2 times and finally came up with a usable alternative
even if the trigger pull is really hard!.... it works and should be a good snake gun for the Ranch here! hehehehe
...
I think I mentioned earlier that I put my "light switch cover" cell in a container that I picked up at walmart... got it through the side of the container and ready to go but that is as far as I've gotten with it....
... as far as the Kitchen Goes its about imposable to start on it when I need to take the plywood outside to cut it and we have been getting so much rain lately ! so it will have to wait a while!
...
I sure like this valley living ! no SNOW yet and there has been snow on the ground where we were sense November! ....its like living in the tropics ! HAHAHAHAHHA!
....
I wish each and everyone of you people out there a Merry Christmas and a Happy new year!
and with this special "Wish"... "May this coming year be better than the last!"

Yeah, this place is dead. Granted, I only play with this stuff in the winter, but I am (un)impressed. There was plenty of posts last winter! I hope this site doesn't die out anytime soon as although I don't post much, I sure do a lot of research here. Of all of the hydroxy sites, I like this one the best. There is a lot of stuck up, nasty people on the others.

I sold my ranger this spring, and now I regret it. However, it is 4x4 and a V6 and I couldn't get enough output to make a huge difference with the figuratively big engine. I am getting a 4cyl SUV (kia sportage) in the next couple days and I am going to try my magic with that. The engine is half the size, but so is the alternator output, we will see what we can do.

Well Brad I wish you luck doing a Kia !
I have no idea on how their Fuel injection and smog Crap can be got around.... but Where there is a will there is a way! ....
Something that might help you figure it out is reading up on the Kia's ELECTRONICS ! how they manage the injection system... doing so with my little Toyota R22 pickup helped a great deal!
I achieved a consistent 40~41mpg with the Hydroxy unit running  with peeks of about 45mpg when everything was adjusted perfectly.
I DID NOT however go about it like most people do. I did not put in a MAP adjuster, I made up a
"MATT-Valve" instead which does just about the same thing but manually. and I shielded the Oxygen sensor in the exhaust pipe.... those were the 2 main things I did to my truck.... I also adjusted the mass-air flow sensor by taking it apart and re setting it very carefully... which only changed my regular gas mileage about 1 ~ 2 mpg at best.
.... the Most dramatic change came from the "Matt-Valve" ! which is simply a 5/8" hose with a valve in it that goes around the Mass air flow sensor that controls the fuel air ratio of the injectors.... so in essence, I could LEAN OUT the engine.... without that ability  I only saw a "pittance" of a change when using the HHO generator....( the computer simply dumped in more fuel weather it needed it or not!)
....
if I've learned one thing about this Hydroxy gas stuff its that it will do you no good at all unless you find some way to reduce the fuel flow to the engine... ie. lean that sucker out some!
...
there is many ways to lean out the engine... but I like the Matt Valve because of its simplicity!
...
REMEMBER however that you will need to remove that hose and cover the holes before you take the car in to be SMOGGed !  .... the technicians cannot pass a car if its been modified at all here in California ! ....  even if the emissions are BETTER than stock ! .... (figure that one out !)
...
Unfortunately some Cars have more than one way to keep track of the fuel air ratio as the engine is running... which usually means that you'll have to "find them all" before you will see good results!
...

As for the Site being SLOW or DEAD as you call it <GRIN>  its Not quite that bad ! LOL !
but it sure is S-L-O-W ! that's for darn sure!
...
I have no intention of shutting this site down unless every one quits posting completely....
I figure its Winter time, close to Christmas and all that... people are busy!  I know I sure have been ! hehehehehehe
Besides...I have complete faith in our gas prices ! they WILL go up! when they do AGAIN... people will be more active on here again!
...
Bob...

With reference to Brads above comment.

Brad is not alone with his opinion of this site & it's contributing members.

It's a real breath of fresh air to have a site where none of us take ourselves too seriously, Bob's wonderful phonetic spelling whose comments can save readers great amounts of time & money, Ferals support & backup for him, Randy's selfless contribution in explaining his superb washer design & his results in more than a little detail.    Daves (Manta) thoughts on improving PWM with his grid thingy.......HaHa (Hope I have that desciption fairly right Dave).

I'm more than happy here...... It's easy to detect a genuine sincerity in contributors who do not show any indication of the need for oneupmanship & I for one will remain here & hopefully find myself able to contribute more in the coming year.

Best wishes for the coming year to all the above & other contributors I have not mentioned.    Marshall.

No fresh snow but the last few days snowfall wont go away.

I rent a small area at a local farm for my HHO/Honda 600 project.  Alan, the 81 year old farmer works alone now just keeping a few cows (he says retirement would not be healthy for him)  ..... calving in minus eleven centigrade was not a good idea yet one decided to do so.  It is a tough little character just like it's carer.   I love this cold weather as long as it remains dry.  Cheesy

Hay !  Marshall !
that washer Design is Not mine but Randys ! I just helped test it ! LOL !
...
I hope you can get up more gumption than I have towards HHO projects as of late... I still believe whole heartily that a car or truck can be made to run on 100% hydroxy gas and generate the gas on the fly.... although it is a TOUGH assignment to say the least, I am SURE it will work !
...
I think Manta's best contribution has been the AMP Limiting design by brute force !... I'd never have thought of that in a million years ! its so simple and so very effective !
the problem with Manta is that he has so many GOOD contributions that its hard to pick between them as to which is the best ! HAHHAHAHA!
... but enough of that...I don't want Manta getting a big head or nuthin' heheheheh
...
in all sincerity, I have not come up with anything toward HHO production on my own, its all came from you guys out there ! <grin>
...
..
.
Calving in cold weather ? what was that Cow thinking ?  you should name him Blizzard! HAHAHAHA
its truly amazing to see how Mother nature handles new calves...if he survives he will be a tough one!
chances are good he will too !
...  I've always been of the opinion that Cows make the Best Neighbors!
...

Have a Merry Christmas Marshall !
and a Happy and Prosperous New year!

Bob,

Don't knock yourself.  You must have done more practical stuff,  not necessarily hho related,  that the rest of us put together.

... I've always been of the opinion that Cows make the Best Neighbors!...

And the best beefburgers ! Cheesy

Marshall,

I used to like the cold,  but now I have to avoid it. I find it hard to get enthusiastic when the shed is at -2C and I know it will take an hour or so to get up to workable temperature. Roll on spring.
