well there i was minding my own business and riding along on my motorcycle having a good time...hanging the corners like old times.... except i drug a floorboard and the bike laid over on its side , spit me off and continued on its trajectory through a fence
... now i'm no new commer to dumping bikes but you know.... i think i'm getting to damm old for this stuff.... ! i hurt in places i didn't know i had before ! lol !
...
glad I had my scoll can in my back pocket that i made out of cast aluminum about 5 years ago as it saved my ass "Literally !".... it has scratches in it now and my back pocket has a hole in it !
...but ooooh man is my butt sore !
needless to say some well meaning person called 911 and within seconds a chp was there,  I had 3 chp cars 2 forestry trucks a few on lookers and an ambulance that i told the chp i didn't want any help as i can't pay for any of it !... he had to call and cancel the tow truck !... i tell ya guys although it was nice to have the help if i really needed it ... the system is set up to get all the charges they can out of you at the drop of a hat !...
... anyway... i didn't go through the fence... my bike did ... and that will cost me a Prudy penny i am sure !... I finally got the bike into neutral and cranked it over and it fired up...
after about an hour of calming everyone down i finally rode it home.... but it is hurt... but mostly cosmetic... i wasn't going that fast... maybe 50 to 60mph ...i told the chp officer 45mph but it was probably a bit faster than that...... i had taken that same corner at 60mph before and not had any problems but i must have hit a slight bump which compressed the shocks and allowed the floorboard to hit the ground... when it did the wheels front and rear , both came off the ground and it fell over sideways.......
i have drug stuff many times before on many different bikes, from roll bars to rear foot pegs and never had the bike just fall over !....
no doubt the bike is heavy... its 840lbs ! evidently that weight is very high too  !
... i've said that bike is too heavy for years now.... and that confirms it... i think i'll sell it and get something lighter !
...
anyway... i did get the welding rod I was after... and I managed to weld up that intake manifold.... but it will take allot of re working to get it usable... as i'll have to re machine the thing and get off all the extra metal I added to it ...hehehehehehe
...
anyway not a entirely pain free monday for me ... i hope your day went better guys ! LOL
... whimper, whimper, moan groan ! hehehehehe
...
what i can't figure out is how all my finger tips got burned.... I have blisters on the tips of my fingers ... and I know I didn't grab the hot engine lifting the bike back up....
...i can't figure out that one... lol
...
 Bob....

3 turn signals... the engine roll bar bend badly, front fender is flat (totally toast)...maybe some other scratches and misc.scuffs but no major broken stuff... but my hand is sure swole up....
and i'm hobbling around like an old man ! lol
...
note to self... no matter how high you mount your floorboards...make damm sure they fold up ...
mine were attached solidly to the frame... big frigging mistake ! don't ever do that !
hahahahaha

Ouch; made me wince just reading it, been there done that, one time I was riding my old glide on a winding highway when my kickstand spring decided to break for no apparent reason, sent me off into the ditch, scared the crap outta me but didn't crash, not sure what year bike ya got but most newer ones have an air valve on top of the front fork, check pressure, may have let down on ya. glad you're alright.

heheh yah ! less sore today... that's a good sign... swelling on the hand has gone down a bit and i now realize that the burned tips of my fingers are blood blisters... must be from smacking the pavement as i spun faster and faster.....
I'll check out the forks, as i have them down in their slides 1" for handling purposes Randy... lowering the whole bike about as low as I dare go.... something changed between the trip in and back, in and back again... probably just my path,  you never take the same path on a corner even though you try real hard... so its possible that the front air shocks did leak a bit.... i haven't checked them in months!
lol
...absolute stupidity having those floorboards solid to the frame... NEVER AGAIN ! hehehe
(live and learn !)
...
now I need a new front fender !.... hummmm.

Hey,  I done that too.

Had to drop my old Triumph Thunderbird when the throttle stuck open and the front brake cable snapped at the same time.
Cost: ripped jeans and jacked.  Big slit in the side of my helmet and a broken gearbox.

Plus the mandatory bruised butt.

Ah,  the good old days.  Glad you weren't hurt bad bob.

Well, I repaired all the damage to the bike , and I healed up fairly fast, the insurance I had on the bike paid for the fence have no idea how much that was....
I found a chrome front fender in my scrap pile for bikes, and managed to mount that on there.
I've rode it a few times sense then but I'm not nearly as enthusiastic about it as I was ! LOL
... I changed the floor board first thing and raised the bike back up a bit... no danger of dragging now!
... but I do think I will get me a 250cc Kawasaki Ninja... if I can find a used one. looks about right fer me ! light and maneuverable.
...
one thing for certain, I'll remember that one for the rest of my life... I never spun that fast in my life and have no desire to do it again !  there was a time in my life when I'd have just shrugged it off
but as I get older I have found I don't bounce nearly as well <GRIN>
I might just use that bike to make a T-Rex ! LOL and get me a putter !
...
