Unfortionately.... your Not safe because its DC instead of AC...
DC Electricity can Kill, although its not very common for a person to be Zapped by 12vDC it can happen
but when it does its usually just a mild shock... but not always !
I remember My Dad leaning over the 12 vdc battery in our old ford as we called it a 1953 ford sedan 6cyl 3spd column shift that ran forever... it was a hot day a good 120deg in the shade and we had the hood up on the car and dad was messing with the carburetor... he all of a sudden jumped back with his eyes wide saying WOOOOOW ! and raised his sweat soaked T shirt to revile 2 red marks on his stomach
where they touched the battery posts.... LOL   if he would have made that good of contact by touching the posts with each hand it may well have stopped his hart ! he said "Well I'll be.... I've never been shocked by a 12vdc battery before! but that one Bit the heck out of me !" he giggled and said Let that be a lesson to ya Son, a 12vdc battery can bite ya if your not carefull !
...
but your more apt to get burned than shocked with DC... a 12vdc car battery will melt a finger sized wire in a hart beat and if you happen to be holding it your going to be badly burned!
... a smaller wire will melt in an instant.... imediately turning whit hot and falling appart to the ground....
so be carefill you don't GROUND stuff directly....the results can be both painfull and or costly !
...
