Howdy all,
I figured I'ed Re post this from the other site sense its good info.
When I did this I was following some guys direction that I got on the net about Hopping up a R-22
engine for 4x4 rock crawling... but his info was very valuable to me and it has proven to work very well...
the first pic is where to find the stupid sensor under the hood, I allready have the top off the thing , i had to cut away the silicone to pry the cap off...its plastic so be carefull not to break it.
the 2nd Pic is that of the air sensor the RED circle around the philips screw is the LOCK DOWN screw
but hold the toothed ring down so it won't move as your loosening the screw, the blue circle is the scratch mark I made on the ring so I could tell how far I moved the ring (I aligned it to the case protrusion.(blue arrow))
to lean out the gasoline to air ratio you turn the toothed ring clockwize... shown is 2 teeth advanced from what it was stock... I just got done moveing it an additional 2 teeth for a total of 4 teeth in advanced
the truck still starts and runs fine but I have not driven is sense the new adjustment of 2 more teeth!....
my base gas milage went up from 22 to 24mpg to 27 to 31 with this adjustment going only 2 teeth
sense I just went 2 more teeth I think I will have to have the Hydroxy unit on at all times, but thats on as I have been running it like that anyway ! <GRIN>
the idea of this adjustment is to lean out the fuel air mixture at ALL throttle positions
and it seams to have worked as planned....
be carefull and watch your heat guage after doing this adjustment and definately only go 2 teeth at a time ...and then road test it. if it needs more then go for it. the guy mentioned if you went too lean you would get a lean missfire at about 3,000 RPM... I have not noticed any misfireing at all
I hope to run the truck tomarrow and then pull the plugs to check plug color just to be safe!
...
Hope that helps!

Bob,
Thanks for posting that! I must have missed it on the other fourm. I remember when I installed my K&N Filter Charger there was a thing about doing that to give the engine more air to compinsate for the better air flow from the new and better K&N filter. Now I'm going to have to try it since I'm running HHO.

Also I got a reply from: http://hydrogenboostnow.com/, to the question if the EFIE will work on our Toyota's and they said no they don't work well on the Toyota's in general. I like their honesty, others have tried to sell me one anyway and they were being very evasive about it which led me to suspision.

for what it is worth,

AHhhh Sooooo.  THANKS Tink !
that is interesting.... well Matt put a Manual valve on his air box that goes arround the sensor
to combat it...and it seams to be working great for him...
I am hopeing Randy will post more info on it... just to quell my uncertanties... I know what it takes
and it don't get much simplier.... just dunno how I am going to go about it...
...then again I may not have to if moveing the sensor2 more teeth does the trick...hehehehe
I will probly try the truck today and let ya know tonight !

OK I ran the Toy truck to the Ranch and back today I stopped and got gas too and I have to report my Miserable milage of 32mpg.... still not up where it should be!
but the truck ran fine with the Air sensor adjustment being 4 teeth to the clockwize position.
otherwize the truck ran like a top... the Hydroxy generator got mihty warm today though ...
I am not sure but I think it melted the cap on the Hydroxy container...
...I'm running 2 randy cells in parallel at 30 amps and replaced the 30 amp auto reset curcuit breaker with a 40 amp one today..... probly why it got hotter than usual it was actually ON all the time!
HAHAHAHAHHAHA
...
in all honnesty I don't think the milage reading was fair as 1/2 the miles were before the 2nd Air sensor adjustment... And I followed some Grandpa for at least 20 miles doing 40 to 45 max in 4th gear
... man I hate those type of drivers ! ...must be retired and have "No where to go and All day to get there !" HAHAHAHAHHHAH
...
anyway... got more work done down at the ranch today... Man I'll be glad when this MOVE is over!
sheez !

OK so far so good... the Air sensor adjustment seams to have worked fine...
but I am trying Randy's Cuzzin's MATT's modification at the moment...
I cut 2 holes about 3/4" od and put a metal water hose shut off valve on one hole and ran a short piece of water hose to the top of the air cleaner box.... the valve goes into the snorkel going into the intake ....
I fired up the truck and opened the valve a bit and the engine slowed waydown... I think I can kill the engine with it easy... so I backed it off a bit and left it there, at a guess about 1/4 open
this hose and valve goes around the Air sensor that I adjusted the other day...
I left the air sensor the way I had it ,this is in addition to it...
I used RTV silicone on both ends to seal up the holes and make it air tight ( around the garden hose and valve)
...
Hopefully this will help get the FUEL/AIR mix leaner in the engine and stop the computer from dumping in so much gasoline!
...time will tell !

Bob,
Does the toy have a O2 sensor?
If so by changing the air flow mixture won't the O2 sensor tell the computer to correct the fuel. It would seem to me that the sensor would see a leaner mixture and tell the computer or ecm to run richer.

confused on this one but I don't know toy trucks. LOL

LTCFisher:
Yes Sir it sure does... its only got one and its located after the catilitic converter...
but I put a piece of tent pole over the sensor and sealed it up so no exhost can get into it!
so it ain't sensing a thing but the heat of the exhost now !
...
good deduction ! most people would have missed that !
good work !
...
so in THEORY... the leaning out of the air sensor will make the engine run leaner... sense I Neutered the computer by putting a "tent-pole condom" on it... it SHOULD have no complaints about running as lean as I want it to , up to the point of self destruction !... but we shall see what we shall see, so far it has proven to work that way... but the vote is not in yet ! and I have learned not to try and out guess that darn computer in that truck , its a tricky little varmett ! HAHAHHAH

Bob or anyone,

Now I'm convinced I need an EFIE since the new 02 Sensors I installed are larger at the base and won't allow a metal condom to be inserted. A guy on ebay at:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/MAP-Sensor-Enhancer-O2-EFIE-WATER4GAS-Free-Amp-Gauge_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ33557QQihZ001QQitemZ110304731376QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWDVW

says his unit will work with my narrow band (4 wire) 02 sensors. Does anyone have experience with an EFIE and the toyota 22R-E engine pre '93 (1st generation computer not the newer one)?

I know I can manually adjust the timing and adjust the air flow, its the darn 02 sensors giving me trouble.

Thanks,

I purchased 2 Efie's
1. One came from Eagle research. It is a well built Efie but it took over 6 weeks to get it. Cost 60 dollars.
2. The second one came from fuel-saver and the quality is about the same. The support is much-much better. It only took 3 days to get. I just got the Efie basic. I got the basic for 60 dollars.

I have been happy with both but considering shipping and support I'd go with fuel saver. Here is the site: http://www.fuelsaver-mpg.com/store/

Hydrotinkerer is giving great advice here.Mike the guy that sells these on fuelsaver won't leave you hanging waiting on support and also stands firm behind the product he sells if there's a defect on the unit he won't hesitate replacing it promptly.
