I finally got the dirversion load completed and tested today. I scrounged up 4 old L16 batteries that had about a half life left in them and strung them together to form a 24volt bank. I disconnected the big battery and connected this to the solar system. I then direct connected the DC heater I made for the diversion load and watched it heat up. At only 22.6 volts and 38 amps I was getting 450 degrees from the .5 ohm resistors and 475 degrees from the 1 ohm resistors. Here is a photo of the unit.
