Ok There is this place down the road from me (20mi down the road but that is nothing with how much i drive)...
they have a couple other stores www.bhsmarketing.com

I can buy Citric Acid in a 50lb sack for only $1.08lb = $54 + tax @ 6%
I can buy Potassium Hydroxide (also known as Caustic Potash and KOH !) in a 50lb sack for ONLY $.89lb! = $44.50 + tax @ 6%. but the thing with the KOH is I have to have a backround check done on me (it's free) and it takes about a week for them to pass it... hope i pass lol Grin Grin

(didn't do Noah because i only want the good stuff)

I'll sell it strait across the board if you want some (I'll buy more if the demand from you guys is more than i have)

KOOL !  sounds good to me !
try and find some plastic containers in the gallon size area.... then add the price of the container to the KOH !
....
I'ed like about 10 lbs but that gets hard to ship... infact shipping KOH is a pain in the butt
its falls under the Hadzardous Meterial catagory and may cost allot more to mail it because of that!....
so check it out !
....
it really depends on the size of plastic containers you can find ! hehehehhe

Are we talking about a milk jug? I can get those free all day!  (well free if you buy 3 bucks worth of milk Wink)
will a milk jug even hold up to 'dry' KOH flakes? but i'll slap the jug in a box the right size so it won't pop open on the journy.

how much trouble would i get myself into if i didn't specify that it was "Hazardous"? JOKEING LOL! I'll stop by a post office and a ups place tomorrow. but I still have to wait for myself to pass the test! bum bum bum...........

any other takers?

LOL well yah a Milk jug should work if its rinced out real good and then totally dry before you add the KOH into the jug... ( a milk jug with a screw on plastic lid!) then a judiciously placed spot of tape across the cap should keep it on there !
...
well you put me on the spot ! I have no idea what the penalty is for shipping hazardous materials without proper stuff might be... might be worth the extra few bucks to pay for the shipping as compared to the fines and prison term LOL !
but a goof cardboard box perhaps 2 one inside the other should make it impervious to anything I'd think.... when in doubt put it in a plastic bag too ! HEHEHEHEHEHHE
don't forget to weigh the milk jug when its full ! HEHEHEHEHEHE
...
<Grin> if you get caught I don't know ya ! HAHAHAHAHHA !

....
LOL hehehe Your a riot ! .... they'll probably not pass your Application because you didn't show a NEED for the chemical..... and if you don't need it you shouldn't have it ! ...isn't that how paranoid people think ? .... After all to make KOH buyers have to go through a TERRORIST CHECK is Paranoia at its highest  right ?
.... I can see it if you can use it to make C-4 or something like that but what ya going to do with KOH? poison the fresh water supply ? then what will you drink ?  that's SILLY !
....
LOL on second thought let us know when you get the KOH ...I'll start drinking beer and pepsi instead ! LOL

....
I havn't tried KOH in a milk jug so I dunno if it will hold up.... I do know they make plastic bottles the size of a gallon mason jar of OLD.... when I bought my batch of KOH it came in 2 poind containers/jars that the plastic resembles that of a milk jug so I suspect its the same stuff !.... if its in a jug and in a plastic bag ... how much safer can ya get Huh?
....
OH be sure to mark KOH on it just incase the Mail truck flips over and the KOH is ripped open... that could cost the tax payers millions  on shutting down the freeway, and flying people in from L.A. to test it to see what it is before they let anyone sweep it up ! ....
HAHAHA Yah I know that sounds Silly... but they did that a while back because some Jerk lost a bag of Portland cement on the freeway... the freeway was closed down, the flew in chemical experts from L.A. and finally identified it as Portland Cement... and then they could clean it up and open the freeway.... this took place about 8 years ago in California.... and they woonder why the state is bankrupt ! LOL ! ( it seams the bag was gone blown away by the wind or something!...well thats their excuse... they probably wanted overtime...it was done by CALTRANS after all !)

ok so they didn't have the 'updated price' yesterday when i called so when i went in today to buy the Citric Acid the dude was all like that will be $1.75lb (it was the same dude i had talked to yesterday cause he remembered me) so that figures out to $92.75 with tax.... I was all like 'you told me $1.08 yesterday' he was like 'O, still want to buy it?' that is still cheeper than the other place right down the road from them but only by $.04lb
i then asked about the 'updated' price of the KOH and he said he couldn't tell me till my back round check went through....

ticked me off a little but i got over it as soon as i left...

i'll keep you updated!

Steve !
Save yourself the headach and just go to AAAA Chemicals in texas... (google AAAA Chemicals... thats what I did... I got 4 lbs for something like $37.00 delevered, no back ground check at all
at first it looked to be about $19.95...but the shipping cost is expensive...
and it took a week or so to get here too !
....
sounds like a fella to stay away from up there... you got his number now, don't make the mistake and do business with him in the future  <GRIN>...thats how I handle people like that ! HAHAHA
....
I still have about 3/4 of a 2lb container...it lasts a long time when you only use a few teaspoons at a time !
....
...
No biggy man  I don't need the KOH... just was going to get it if it was that good of a buy ! HAHAHAHAHAH
