Ok I started out with a MPG milage of 22 to 23mpg....
I put all the goodies on the truck and got 40 to a Max of 45mpg....
took it off for the winter because of the freezing temps
inspected the Cell and discovered very dirty plates and very low output
so I haven't had the time to rebuild the 3 Randy cells yet....
however I left the "Matt Valve" on the truck and have been getting extreamily high mileage with it alone
a very consistent 40mpg  ( last fill up I got 42mpg, time before I got 39mpg)... I drove slower last tank full.<GRIN>
....
so thats where I stand... getting as good of mileage without the Hydroxy cell as I was with it....
and I am confused as to how that can possibly be... either the Hydroxy cell didn't add any mileage at all, or my fine tuning of the Matt Valve after the Cell was removed really made a huge difference in the MPG....and the addition of Hydroxy gas NOW will really improve the mileage above and beyond the 40mpg mark...
...
For all intents and purposes I practically doubled my MPG by just adding the "Matt-Valve"  Although I thought it was the Hydroxy gas at first but now I am certain it is NOT...
....
I suppose the only way I will know now is to get the Hydroxy cell working good again and re install it on the truck without touching the "Matt Valve" at all.... that should tell me if there is any gain at all with the Hydroxy gas being Added to the engine.
... I know there is a performance improvement, that was obvious ! so logically there should be a MPG improvement as well.

Bob,

What do the spark plugs look like ? Still a healthy chocolate brown,  or have they gone white ?

I haven't pulled the plugs on the truck sense I got it almost a year ago now ! hehehehehe
I can assure you they are Grey or white because its running as lean as it possibly can without missing!
and thats mighty lean from the looks of things at 40mpg !...
I have not experienced a heating problem at all...even pulling the long hill in 117degrees last week
... she just purred like a kitten....
...
On motorcycles (air cooled engines) its very important to keep the plug color in the brown area but in cars with the big water cooled engines you can go Grey with no problems...  However if its lean enough to cause the engine to Miss a beat every once in a while you are asking for trouble! ...and with the "Matt Valve" it is a very fine adjustment... between missing and not...

Hi
I did a search for the matt valve and found a bunch of posts on it.
Are you still using the same configuration you started out with?
Using the garden hose and shut off valve?
I guess this might be a viable work around for a Freq based MAF that don't work with a resistor type enhancers?

Hi Glen and welcome to the Forum...
Yes I am still using the same Matt-Valve that uses a hunk of garden hose and a garden hose in-line shut off valve...
...
I am sure that is what is giving me my "better than usual" gas mileage... at 31mpg (measured this morning) that is a far cry better than the avrage 22mpg to 24mpg for the same truck...

There is a photo in the photo section of how I installed the "Matt-Valve" on my toyota pickup...
setting the valve is very very touchy however.... a small amount of movement to the valve changes the gas mileage a great deal....  How I set my valve up initially was to start and warm up the truck and then turn the valve ( open ) untill the engine started missing.... and then back it off a little  so the missing goes away....from there it takes a long time to adjust the valve to maximum effeciency, a slight touch of the opening or closeing of the valve and then run a tank of gas through the truck and check the mileage... repete till your happy !
 ....
in making the valve  I simply used what I had on hand , a plastic in line waterhose valve and  both ends of an old 5/8" garden hose... that way the hose just screwed on to the valve with no problem... and then I used RTV Silicone to seal up the entry points of the hose on the intake snorkel.

Thanks for the welcome and the info Bob!
Will give it a try on the GMC sometime in the near future.
I'm still taking base line readings of MPG using a Maxitrip, it's much like a Scanguage II.

You'll notice that the Matt-Valve is simply a by-pass hose around the air-flow sensor on the Toyota R22 engine... I do not know if you can use the same approach on a GMC truck or not. but the idea is to allow air into the intake that the sensor doesn't know about, the more air you let in the leaner it runs...
...its a simple concept but seams to work very well on the Toyota !
if you succeed in adapting the idea to your truck Please post a pic and show us what ya did !  many of us here have GMC trucks ! so the mods will be quite helpful !
