As far as "Rigs" go... My Radio now consists of a very old Yasue 301D, Home brew Iambic Keyer, bencher paddle, and a 25amp yasue power supply.
My Antenna "Farm" is non exhistant now as I have just moved to the Ranch and the only antenna's up here are old CB antennas <grin>
I have a antenna tuner, and many wire antennas all rolled up and stored SOMEWHERE here...
....
My Old Radio is probably shot now as it has been Pissed on by Cats for about 5 years and covered with
dust ....its not a pretty sight ! , however there is another Radio here a Yasue 101that has been de-tuned to reach the CB bands hehehehe which will more than likely be my Radio in the future...soon as I align it .
Sense my Advanced class Licenses has elapsed, I havn't been on the air in ages, even on 2mtrs which I have grown quite fond of... as I know I can talk into San Fransisco from here in the truck!
which is pretty darn neat!
... My Location here is within one Mt range to lake Shasta in Northern California. I have 20 acres here with plenty of room for big antennas so I am Sitting pretty when it comes to locations. the mountains around me make for good communications to the south and south east mostly , North has always been hard to get out to for this location.
...
In the future if I get the "BUG" again, I may well renew my Liscnses and get back on the AIR again
...
Ham Radio Nuts are a Natural for Hydroxy generator building as they already know the basics of Electricity, and have probably built many electronic circuits in the past.

Well I'm using the old Icon 745 I got from the 'Elmer' who got me interested in Ham radio when I lived up in Seattle. He had used this rig to bounce his signal of the glacer up there. It came with the old SBE model SB2-LA Linear amp. It puts out 1000watts but I've never fired it up. Some of the 6 tubes in it broke the last time I moved or maby 3 times ago, I don't know. So I recently got an old tube tester and tested all the tubes I had laying around and found a set that seamed to be pretty balanced between them. Some day I'll turn it on and see what happens. I use a Dentron manual antenna tuner that proves to be a real workhourse. I use it with the 'Extended Lazy H' wire antenna that I have strung between 3 homebrew wooden 40 foot towers. The trees here are just not tall enough to do any antenna hanging on them. Heck these towers are 3 times as tall as the nearest tree. When I use the Crushcraft R7 I don't use the tuner since it is a vertical multiband antenna. My neibourgh hates my antennas but she also hates the 40 foot tower I'm building for the wind generator too and promises to hate the wind generator with as much furver. When I was a kid in Pennsylvania i made a slinky andtenna and strung it between the tree and the house. With the Halacrafter shortwave set my uncle gave me I was listening to stations all ove the world and the Grand Old Opry too.
More later

Great on the stations u guys have.  I running a icom 738 into a mfj versa tuner 5, with a heathkit sb-221 2kw amp., recent acquisition.  I have several dual band mobiles and ht's, for antennas I have a 80 m dipole, homemade 4 element 2 m cubicle quad, 6 element 440 cubicle quad, also homemade, amtron 99, and a 5 element tri bander for 10, 15, and 20 m.  All this was mounted on a 55 foot self supporting telescopic  tubular tower, which got bent in a micro burst last year.  I have purchased a new 72 foot tilt over telescopic tower, of the 3 leg design which will handle a bigger wind load.  I have not put this up yet.  73,s for now.

AB2DF,
I think that 738 is much like my 745. You got some great towers. The 40 or maby 60 footer I'm building for the 10" wind generator is made from some galvanized pipe I had laying around. Starts at the base with 5" then 3, 4" 6' sections and a few 2.5" sections. I'll be welding it all together and I made a box for the base that acts as a hindge and I'll raise it with a 20 or 30" gin pole with my truck (no HHO needed). I'll have it guyed with 5/16" wire rope at 2 heights. My nasty neibourgh says I can't go above 35' without a permit. I called the County Building inspector and he said there is no restrictions on height for home use towers out where I live. Yepye! Anyhow now I don't have to worry about the 43' towers holding up my Extended Lazy H. Have you ever run into tower height problems as far as permits go? I'm using a 25 foot Rohn 3 legged tower bolted to my house for the discone and the cell phone Yagi. They are great towers.

well tink not so far, but I do live in the adirondack park, but I think there is a clause, being in a hamlet.

The only reason I was able to get the new tower was homeowners insur.  I monitored the 7256 40 m freq tonight but got nothing.  I would prob. have better luck on 15 m at 3pm.  I think I have the time right it shjould be 6:20 there now?

Got to admit I envy you guys with your wide open spaces. It's about 60 foot to the bottom of my garden.  trees all around.  Not good as an antenna farm.
All my equipment is long gone.  Just a multi-band receiver remains that I sometimes have a listen around on. I have a long wire running down the garden,  but it really need some work to match it to the set.  I often get 80 metre stuff from a net in Wales,  but again,  it's a long time since I really bothered.
Problem is,  if I got hooked again,  I wouldn't want to get off my butt and do something more useful.  A problem we all share.

Manta,
Yea I hear that. I'm real sproatic about getting on the radio. I'm usually too busy and forget the time somiss the contact times. All the guys I talk too realize this and don't give me a hard time about it plus my schedule is always different from one week to the next. I just like keeping in touch with hams around the country because you never know when ham radio may be the only means of communication. I realize how fragel our infostructure is and its an added sence of security to have the ham radio operational.

Mike that is 7.265, sorry I must have given yo the wrong freq. I'll try to be on the band at 3pm and also 6pm my time here in AZ.

Mike,
I looked up your location at the ARRL web site and you may not be able to hear me or me you. But you may be able to hear the other guys. I'm going to try to listen at 3pm my time that's 5pm your time on 15meter at 21.412. And then at 6pm my time that's 8pm your time at 7.265.

You should be 2 hours off my time since AZ doesn't do Daylight Savings TIme.

Mike,
No problem, I should be on 40 meter at 7am that would be 9am your time in Sunday morning. We'd have to have a direct 'pipe' between us to have any chance of connecting. But you may hear Bob K0QND or even Gary K0MGD or Miron KC5ZAV.

While I was in Reno NV. I had a friend that got a new Icom 757 or something like that... don't remember exactly the number/modle it was but after a while they all look the same !HAHAHAHA! but it had a very good CW filter in it (extra) and a nice tuning arrangement for the audio filter and all in all I wound up realy likeing that radio... I've seen some of the newer Kenwoods too and they are realy neet but buck per buck it looked to me to be more bang for your buck with an Icom...
.... and what do I have ? Yasues ! hehehehehe and they are very old ...
I might wind up getting my liscnses again.. who knows...but as Manta said, like my computer the Ham radio became a time sink and realy wound up taking a bunch of my time.... time now that I just don't happen to have.
....one thing for sure... if I'ed have spent what I spent on my computers on Ham radios I'ed realy have some Nice units...and without a good Rig radioing just isn't that much fun...
....
I do want to try some experiments on "Spacic energy" in the "NOT too far" future.
because as I undertstand it I should be able to capture free electricity like Henery Moray did ages ago.
with 20 acers here I could run electric fence wire all the way around my property and have a few miles of wire out.... resonateing it with the planet should net some neet results !
...

Bob,
What's spatic energy? Where do I get some? I want it!
I've known a few people with Yasesus and they are great radios. I have a goal to find an old tube type radio I can afford and work with it. Call me a parinoid but I just realize how fragile our infostructure is as I mentioned in a previous post. I've always wanted to getinto the computer area of ham radio but when I had the money I didn't have the time and now I have the time I don't have the money. My Icom 745 is all the radio I need but it is not able to interface with a computer. I know ham radio can be addictive. There are guys out there that have $million in stuff and it's just a hobby! I guess being poor has it's advantages.

Tink...
"Spacic Energy" is also known as "Free Energy" and is Considered a MYTH by the scientific comunity....  However it does work ! just like the HHO is considered a MYTH, so is Spacic Energy...
....
to understand how spacic energy works takes an understanding of Antennas and resonance... you simply put up a bunch of wire.... the more wire the better
and then resonate it with the planet at around 4hz....
obviously that much wire is going to be hard to come by so you can use a coil with LOW "Q" to match it up ....
with a very good long ground rod you should be able to resonate the wire to the planets frequancy... yes the planet has a frequancy just as the sun does and sense the sun is ringing like a bell all the planets are ringing in simpithy...
sense the planet is ringing at its resonant frequancy.... the wavelength that happens to be 25000miles long we can resonate a wire to it and obtain Amplication by Resonants.... when you accomplish that, you have free energy
Henery Moray in the past made this discovery and his Grandson is now trying to sell his book "spacic energy by Henery Moray" and at last check he had some back in print...but unfortionately I didn't have the money to get the book at the time
...Henery Moray took it to the next step and used a crystal cut to his exact frequency and used the crystal to amplify the signal in a simple crystal osclitor
... he powered his entire house and barn with the power received from this setup
for years...
so all we are doing is tuning a long wire to the planets frequency, getting amplification by resonance and using the high voltage that comes off the wire
day and night.
....
Why the power companies havn't discovered this is unknown... I guess they cannot see the forest for all the trees <GRIN>
but instead they already know that long lengths of exposed wire will gather high amounts of electricity, through many sources, sun spots and static electric charges in the atmosphere. so they ground all that energy at certain points along their long stretches of wire....throwing away all that power.
....
I do not know what it would take to make that power usefull....
I suspect a 60hz ossliator and a voltage regulator to get you 120vac
or diodes and voltage regulators for DC voltage.... you could charge your batteries 24-7 if you just figured out how to do this !
...
that is about the sum total of what I know of it...
I do know that a friend of my Dads was working on it about 5 years ago and showed Dad the results on his volt meter.... even with his crude setup it worked!
and all he has was about 200ft of speaker wire strung up in the trees...
and the power was Always there.... not just a static charge that takes a while to build up either...this is different, its really there if you can resonate at "its" frequency.
and you can Resonate to just about ANY Frequancy with a simple coil... tapped off at the right spot.
...
try taking your Lazy H antenna and hooking a VTOM to it and a large 6"diam coil made from copper tubing (about 50ft in the coil ?) to ground and put your grid dip meter on it and find out the direction you have to go to get closer to 4hz.... (its 4to 7hz btw)
your looking for constant electricity ...not static buildup....
run that through a rectifier and a pot to adjust the voltage and charge your batteries ! HAHAHAHA

if you accomplish it Please post all the details as I will set one up here and turn off the grid! HAHAHAHAHAH
...

Bob,
either u have to quit posting or I have to stop reading, lol.  I think I know along the line u are talking about, I read an article, (ur making me look for it and retrieve it if possible) I save all the good articles I read.  But the guy was charging up his qrp rig off from the radio waves of an am station nearby.  Well I did not find it, but I do not have a lot of time to dig.  But that was the principle(charging his batt. for his qrp rig from the radio propigation from a local am station).

Yea, that sure sounds like something Tesla was doing. I've been reading his biography. He had planed to supply the world with free energy then the greedy capitalist came along and put an end to that. Just as soon as I figure it out I'll let you know. The Tesula Coil it was called and someone recently built one and was generating 100,000 volts or more. Even Cris Angle did a thing with it. I think the amount of wire needed makes it prohibited for the common Tinkerer like me. If you don't know who Chris Angle is ask Feral she'll probably know. Everything does reaonate to a certain frequency and that is why we have tomatoes and trees and different things. They are all of a different frequency. When they resonate to a frequence that we can see, feel, touch, smell with our sences then they are real to us. This is what gets me knowing there are things out there we can't see or hear. Makes you wonder what is happening all around us at any given time. There is a little mongoloid kid who comes in the store a lot and he's always talking to someone. I can't see that person he is talking to. It drives me nuts. He's not talking to himself as everyone thinks. He is really talking to someone. Well there you have it, you got me started on this off the wall stuff.

thanks Mike

I have built several tesla coils.  The last one puts out 600,000 volts, if u want i can send a pic.

I have started a bigger one where I will use 2 to 3 pole transformers I Got off the power lines.  The only thing I am lacking now is a variable transformer.  Bob, I

I started to build a Jabob's ladder when I was a young teen but found I didn't have enough parts...and after about a month of scrounging for parts I gave up on the IDEA
hehehehe.
Now I scrounge for parts for years... I have allot more paitiance now ! HA !
....
Man it was Hot here today... i mean real HOT... I walked outside at about 10:00am and after about 5min in that heat I turned around and went back in the air-conditioned house and turned the swamp cooler to HIGH ! LOL
.... its 8:08pm now and 80 degrees on the deck normially it would be High 60's
....
..
Posting Pics here is easy  Mike, just poke the "Additional Options"  text at the bottom of your post window... and then hit the brouse button to find your Pic on your drive..
you are limited to 300KB per post which is fairly small,... but that size restriction is a necessity... ( I have increased it 3 times so far <GRIN>)
...I amagon I will eventually have to move this Site to a domain all its own
in order to contain all the pic's  but till that day I will try my darndest to keep it to where it doesn't cost me any more than our own personal web address.
... I use the .JPG format on pictures because it has a really good compression ratio... and its easy to fit 2 800x600 pics in the 300kb limit
its when you get into the HUGE picture formats that they won't fit very well at all... 1024x768 is about as big as a single image can be (.jpg) while using other picture formats of say...  .PNG till restrict you to 340x200 sometimes!
...
Hope that helps...

Mike,
Sorry I told yu the wrong time for the radio contacts. I am 3 hours of your eastern time but ony while you guys have DST. So the morning net meets at 7 my time or 10 your time. Evening time is 6 here and 9 there.

I think you have my email address. I'll go back through my address book to get yours and send my mailing address. I'd love to borrow that DVD. Thanks.

Bob,
Been hot here too and humid. Its 27% and sticky right now. I like it when the humidity stays around 2 or 3 %. I'll get a photo of my engine compartment with the hood up this wekend.

I've also heard about a man who was jumped upon by the authorities for doing this as it was apparently weakening the reception of all the other radios in his locality, sort of sucking the energy out of the area.
It was a very long time ago.

SORRY GUYS,
Kind of had a brain fart, lol.  Sorry for the extra posting and pics!  3 are my tesla coil, and 1 is of my ham station.  The big square box in the coil pic is my homade cap, it holds about 7 gallons of oil, the next cap I will probrably make out of mm caps.  U can tell it is a bit dusty, lol.  And after cutting hundreds of poly filler to go between the plates u can understand why, lol.  I will have to count all the sheets of aluminum, and poly I put into that, It will scare u, lol.

Mike ... I deleted the 2nd batch ya posted sense they were duplicates of the first...<grin>
...
I resize photos using "Correl Photo paint"... but any photo editing program usually gives you the option... just depends on which program you want to use.
...
although I usually "Resample" the picture as it makes the picture much clearer .
...
...
....
.....
I got Feral on here, and had her working on the Hydroxy Hut site all day Long
to try and figure out where the extra garbage is coming from when we down load the photo and try to save it.... we did find out its not us... although I am not totally certain its not MY computer... and as such I havn't ruled out a virus on my machine  quite yet... but I am fairly certain its not on my end ...
it seams that the pictures stored on the site are fine, its when they are down loaded something is appended to the file which screws them up...
Feral did a cross check and found that the Hydroxy Hut site Program is fine...
so it has to be something with "Pair Network" itself where the site is Hosted
I havn't contacted them yet, but probably will, as its a nuisance !
... actually I think that its been doing this sense day one and we just now noticed it.... but not positive about that.
... its very strange because Not all pictures have been Appended to with that garbage.... so I think its a virus or bug at the Pare network site...
so for now I wouldn't try to double click and save the files, just single click and look at them on the site.
...if you have stored any pics from this site that don't work please do yourself the favor and delete them from your Hard drive...just to be safe...
if the pic's open properly then their not a problem its only the corrupted ones that are in question.
....
...
Ok Mike what is a Tesla Coil used for anyway ? is that the coil that broad-casts electricity ?  like you can hold a neon light near it and it will light up ?
...

hi Tink, Bob,
Tink yes output at top of coil is 600,000 volts, I get a good 3 foot arc of it, and not just one they look just like lightning, they start and then finger out.  It is loud enough where if u stand within 15 feet u should wear ear plugs.  Like I said I have built 3 so far, I started small, the 2 nd one I built, I had no garage and tested it in the house, I fried the answering machine, and the phone.  It lit the fluorescent tubes in the kitchen light, Lol.  I took it outside after that, (my wife's recommendation), lol, and I could lite a 4 foot fluorescent tube from 14 foot away.  I think back then I had a grounding issue, but I can still lite a 4 foot tube from a ways away just by holding it in ur hand.
Tink on the turquoise box I think u are talking about my ham station, that is a 2000 watt or legal limit amp from heathkit, of course u do not get 2000 watts, losses and all, but yes it is a heathkit sb-221 1500 watt amp.  I also have a complete vintage hw-101 with original speaker and power supply, with extra tubes I am looking to get rid of.  Of coarse the amp stays, lol.

Bob,
sorry for the double post, I lost my dig cam. and had to borrow one, I was not used to the software.
Let me know if the resize was ok?

Bob,
Yes that was Tesla's dream to deliver free power.  He had a lot of grief and competition from Edison who short changed him big time.  For me and my small mind and limited intelligence it is just a learning experience and one hell of a conversation piece, lol.  I used to set it up on Halloween, I got 3 times the kids, lol.

Bob,
The circuit and transistor I am using is rated for 90 amps with a proper heat sink,( I think I have that one covered), lol.  I am holding it at 48 amps, 4lpm, and the heat sink, (homemade) just gets luke warm.  Even with my f-250 deisel, 2 batteries and 2 alternators, I feel anything more than 48 amps would get me into (the law of diminishing returns) where I would use more fuel to gen. the electicity than I would get back from the gen.
Tink,
yes the "hot water" 101 was made by heathkit.  It is an old transiever.  Not sure on the price, I was selling it for the silent key's wife.  Ended up mine now and I would not sell it without testing it.  If u are interested I will test everything and get back to u.  I would just go to e-bay see what they are going for and drop the price.

Btw guys,
I fired up the coil tonight, let it run till my ears hurt, darn thing is loud.  I had a bug in it I had to fix, every once in a while I have to clean the spark gap, it gets bugs and dirt between the copper pipes and kinda shorts it out.  My beagles didn't appreciate it too much, lol.  I can't wait to build the big one!  If I can just find a variable transformer for 220 volts I would be in!
