KF,
From another post somewhere here, as to ameters I've been using a cheap $10 one (0-30amps) I got on ebay and it works great. Hook up inline and no shunt needed. I've pined it numerous times and it still is dead on compared to my Fluke. They are all over ebay. Easy to get. But if you want a wider range you'll have to did deeper and pay more. I don't like the automotive ammeters cause they arn't so accurate.

yeah linkage, transfers foot travel to throttle position sensor or TPS, or carb butterfly, if TPS is used physical motion is converted into electrical signals communicating your desire to haul butt to the electronic control module ECM which in turn transfers your desires into electronic pulses driving the electronic injectors which are being monitored by the calibration package E PROM or CALPAC which monitors the mas air flow sensor or MAFS and the O2 sensor sniffing the exhaust for the right amount of O2 in the exhaust giving user terrible fuel economy and frequent stops at filling stations.
