Smogg test in California...

I had to get Licenses and all on my pickup last week and of corse they said I had to get a Smog cert. too... so I went to the usual place that I always go to and had them do it...
sense I had the Hydroxy cell out for the winter I knew their wouldn't be any problems
...I did however leave the Matt Valve in line , I just turned the valve off is all
... I got to talking to the O'l man there that runs the place as he was poking his head under the hood to see what I've been up to... and he said its a good thing you took it off or I couldn't have passed you ! I said really ? he said Yup ! because its "Modified" it doesn't matter one bit that it increases your gas millage or hinders it, they don't care in Sacramento they say you cannot modify the engine at all !!!! I said well what about that valve there? he said is it off? I said yes, he said well...I didn't see that ! and I laughed...OK thats good then! and he smirked.... the truck passed the test with flying colors.... a bit higher than average readings but that is probably due to the high millage of 285,000 miles on it !...so after $40.00 the DMV was notified electronically that the truck was smoged and that was that. then went to the DMV waited 2 hrs in line and got the liscnses which had trippled in cost because it was 2 months late !
....
so if you live in California and have to get a Smog certificate and have a Hydroxy unit on your vehicle , do yourself a favor and take it all off before you go in there !

its a crying shame when the people come up with ways to stop pollution completely and increase gas milage at the same time and the state says its illegal to do so ! But that is what we have folks
so be aware of it.
