I have read H2 burns between 30,000 and 40,000 feet per second, is this true? Gasoline burns about a 1000 ft per/sec. If you run your engine completely on H2 better retard that timing! Chase

I don't know the fps numbers but it is much much faster than gasoline.
you are right about the timing though. with substantial amounts of hho the timing should be after tdc or you risk detonation.
ever torched off the bubbles from a hho booster? it don't burn like gas. it explodes!

the numbers I read were 10 times faster than Gasoline /air Mix ... thats for Hydrogen.... not Hydroxy gas Hydroxy gas is much faster than hydrogen alone! ... if you figure its the speed of light , you won't be too far off ! GRIN! ... instantious I believe is the word ! Bob.......

I found a some numbers.
Gasoline burns 4900 ft/sec.
hydrogen will burn 13,000 to 16,000 ft/sec.
Not as fast I thought but I'm looking for that info again to post.

YES BUT ! Remember that Hydroxy gas is Hydrogen AND oxigen mix which speeds up the burn an extream amount ! in stead of a poof as hydrogen would give you you get a Kaboom ! probly an order of magnatude faster than Hydrogen alone ! so you cannot go by that ... that is why I caution people from useing Flash back preventers designed to stop hydrogen when useing it on Hydroxy gas ! its not the same thing at all ! there's a night and day diference ! .... I agree with Bob. The Hindenburg was filled with hydrogen wasn't it? it took over 10 seconds for the explosion to end. ever seen the old newsreel? I thinks its on youtube. hydroxy gas however doesn't have to wait for the oxygen to get to the fire. its already permeated with it. watching the hindenburg video you can see several lives were save when everyone ran away from the burning blimp. that just could not happen with hydroxy. the explosion would be virtually instantaneous and probably would have even gotten the camera guy

that much Hydroxy gas going off would have been like a Nuke ! flattening everything in miles .... the only survivors would have been at a farm 5 miles away that would have said " I dunno man all of a sudden the sky was filled with fire and flying debree ! " heheheheh ... Hydroxy is much diferent in reaction than Hydrogen....Trust me on this ! ... Bob......

Here is an interesting link: http://www.uh.edu/engines/epi1237.htmI think after reading that site that the hydrogen would have burned faster if the balloon materials and structure had not slowed it down.

The only thing I've read(besides here) was 40,000 ft. per sec. That's almost 8 miles a sec.I dunno about that,I know it burns fast but that's fast.

I did manage to find this but haven't been able to make sure its true. I'll keep looking to make sure.
According to most analysis, gasoline has a flame speed of approximately 1-1.6 f/s. Hydrogen (not HHO just hydrogen) when mixed with air has a flame speed of approximately 14.08 f/s - much faster! Now, take these (2) numbers and compare them to HHO's flame speed of 8,160 f/s.

yup thats why a "flame Arrestor" is not a good idea for hydroxy gas... use a bubbler instead! it don't burn it explodes ! its that simple ! ... Bob.......
