I know I'm being obnoxious with these posts but I'm theoretical by nature.

A way to save money on purified water is to purify it yourself. Get creek water or some such and put it in a pot-like rig, suspend a bell-shaped container over said rig (it must be bigger than the rig itself) and install a kind of catch-bucket around the rim of the first rig. Put the whole contraption over a fire or source of heat and fill the pot-rig with creek water. Let it boil off, let the condensation drip into the catch...purified, distilled water.
UNLESS I'M MISTAKEN, of which I'm sorry in advance.

Distilling your own is a lot of fuss.I'll stick to my $.69 a gallon of store bought distilled that I use about one gallon a month. Grin

Yeah...I figured a gallon lasted a week. Yet another sign of my failure at knowledge. >.>

No not really you could use a gallon in a week,it depends how many miles you drive a week.I've had weeks where I drove over a 1000 miles and used almost 3/4 of a gallon.

If you're as interested as I think you just have a lot of reading time ahead of you,and that's the best way to learn about hho.

Don't worry about having trouble getting started that's what this and other forums are all about, this is how most of here gained all the knowledge we have, starting out where you are now.

Don't forget that the ice that forms in your fridge is virtually pure water.

I use rain water, It's free and if your roof is clean it's also fairly pure.

Humm can't you get a charcoal filter from Britta or something that will  purify the water
as it seeps through the filter ?... if its not "PURE" it would be very close to it after going through one of the good filters I'ed think.... and not take a bunch of firewood too!
...
I have about 5 or 6 gallons of distilled de-mineralized water out there in jugs that I bought from Wall-mart during the summer, thats the second batch of water I bought, I went through 4 gallons before that rather fast trying to get rid of the green goo ! HAHAHAHAH
...
its a thought !
